Two reasons to hate music in 2005...
This morning, I saw this on ESPN.com. Ugh.
At ACE in St. Louis, nearly every kid I taught was an aspiring MC, and I'm pretty confident that even they could have managed lines better than the following:
"Knock it way into the sky, watch how high up that it fly. Houston Astros is the truth and you're a lie."
Or
"Phil Garner keep pulling tricks with run support from lots of hits."
Just entirely unfathomable for me...
Addendum: Here's a link to a more in-depth article about the songs referenced above. My favorite quote comes from Chamillionaire:
"I realized music's designed to be timeless. You never know that record could get played again down the line. I didn't want it to only be relevant for that time."
Yeah, never back down from your art, Cha. Maybe the 'Stros will pull it from its dust jacket the next time Lidge gets rocked.

You obviously haven't heard "Cardinal Batgirl". Goes to the tune of "Hollaback Girl." Pretty horrendous. Jaime has made your brother and me listen to it waaaaay too many times.
Nothing, nothing beats "Don't Stop Believin'." Who'd have thought that Steve Perry would join 300,000 or so Chicagoans in the White Sox' post-victory celebration. THAT is timeless. And I thought Steve Perry was in hiding because of some crowd-induced-anxiety thing.
